Genesis Creations and City University Ajman: from a signed MoU to new digital media curricula

Genesis Creations has signed a memorandum of understanding with City University Ajman. The aim is simple: bring virtual reality, AI and immersive learning into how the university teaches digital media, so students practise with the tools they will use at work.

The agreement was signed on 30 April 2025 at the university's Second International Conference on Media and Mass Communication, held by the College of Media under the theme "The Future of Media Communication: Innovation and Insights". The conference brought media academics and practitioners from across the region to Ajman to talk about where media education is going.

Mr Imran Khan, President of City University Ajman, Bassem William, CEO of Genesis Creations, and Dr Joseph Kamel, Chairman of Genesis Creations, attended the signing. Dr Kamel also led a round-table discussion at the conference on the future of digital media, on how AI and immersive tools change what a media graduate needs to know.

What the MoU covers

Three things. Genesis supports the university's teaching methods. It gives faculty immersive and AI tools to teach with. And it helps students practise with the technology they will meet in their first job.

What has happened since

The first piece of work under the MoU is the curriculum. City University Ajman is building new majors around digital media, including development, VR production and AI production. Genesis went through these programmes with the faculty and advised on what each one should teach and how.

In practice that meant looking at each course and asking a plain question: where can a student build, shoot or rehearse something in VR instead of only reading about it, and where can AI help without doing the work for them? A VR production student should leave with projects they made, not just notes. An AI production student should know what the tools do and where a person has to decide. The faculty set the standard; the technology serves it.

Let the creators create

We see classrooms where students build, test and apply real tools from the first week. Learning should not be passive. With VR and AI, students take part in their own progress and arrive at work ready to contribute.

That comes with a responsibility. We believe in teaching AI ethically: as a tool for real progress, not a shortcut. The future we want is one where technology adds to creativity, discipline and ambition rather than replacing them. We want graduates who are fluent with these tools, honest about how they use them, and bold in what they make.

This partnership is part of a wider effort across the region to change how institutions prepare students for the world ahead. We are not only building teaching tools; we are helping shape careers.

If you teach or run a programme and want to see what VR and AI can do in your classrooms, start a project and we will show you real examples.
